Fluttering Quilts in the Breeze and The Winners
17 Feb 2011 2 Comments
Finally, it happened, the 3rd Annual Stonestead Quilt Festival on Sunday 13th February, the day dawned a little cloudy but as the day progressed it became a beautiful sunny day, and was a huge success with 75 quilts on display, an increase on last year.
I don’t need to tell you that this type of event relies on all those volunteers, friends and local businesses who freely give of their time and resources to make the day the success it is and we are very appreciative of this.
This car quilt was a great success and a big thank you goes to Toni Waygood for allowing us to borrow it for the day.
I have been a little slow getting the placegetters names published, but didn’t want to do that until I had spoken to them personally and congratulated them, and like all quilters they live very busy lives so it took awhile to make contact.
So here goes
1st Place called ‘Old Friends’ by Camilla Watson.
2nd Place to Lorna Newsome for ‘Village Green’
3rd Place to Judy Betts for ‘Fruhlingsmorgen’
Stonestead Challenge.
The criteria for this was the wallhanging had to depict what a Devonshire Tea at Stonestead meant to them using the fabric enclosed in the challenge pack.
Judges Choice Ronelle Serfontein Letter J

Viewers Choice Robyn Burch for ‘Summer at Stonestead.Letter B
We have lots of pictures of the quilts and the day and we shall be publishing these regularly over the next weeks, keep coming back and have look, I shall endevour to have the name of the quilt and quilter too.
So until next time

Lovely quilts and congratulations to all the entrants as well as winners. Can’t wait to see more photos. Seems like it was truly worth the wait. Congrats on another successful show. Love to you both, Denniele

My daughter, Michelle, and I had planned to attend your event on the 6th as a birthday treat for us both. She is the proud owner of ‘Village Green’ having had a part in designing it and now owning it. She suggested that we enter it in your show on her ‘home patch’. We are both honoured that so many fellow stitchers & public enjoyed it enough to have placed it second in your show. We would have loved to have been with you all on the actual day but other commitments prevented that. We look forward to next year. Thanks to all who made the day possible. – Lorna
